Earthy spring session

This family has my heart and so does this location! This is my cousin’s family and the location is my grandparents farm.  We spent countless days swimming in the lake, climbing on hay bales, and exploring all the barns and sheds. So it was amazing to get to incorporate this place into her session.

One thing I also love about this sessions is their outfits! Sarah allowed me to style their whole family and I think it creates a timeless look. Outfits can make or break a session and its typically the one thing that clients stress about.  Finding outfits for the whole family can be so stressful! Which is why my business partner, Melissa, and I created Honeytree Style & Select  Our website is a resource for photographers to provide to their clients.  No more pinterest boards or PDF styling guides.  Instead, clients can get on, enter an access code, fill out a simple questionnaire, and it populates outfit choices for each person in the family.  Thats not even the best part! It then gives them a link to where to purchase the clothes from.  So basically, no more running from store to store, or browsing 15 different clothing sites for outfits that look good together.

So, future and current clients, I would LOVE to be able to help you style your sessions to create this look! Lets step outside of the box of jeans, tees, and matchy/matchy colors and find outfits that are not only flattering, but affordable and take your photo up a notch!

XOXO- Holly

Zeller Wedding

Oh what a beautiful day and wedding this was! I was so excited to get to photograph one of my best friend’s weddings! The love and respect they have for each other is obvious.  And they obviously know how to throw a good party 🙂

On another note, I have had many inquiries for weddings for this upcoming year.  Although I no longer am booking weddings through my personal business, I am excited to say that I have teamed up with one of my amazing friends and fellow photographers, Melissa, to start a new wedding business.  We created Honeytree Stills & Cinema which is an all inclusive wedding photography and videography business.  Check us out at www.honeytree.photography for more info on weddings and how to book!

Fall family session

I have always loved this session! Although it was last year, I am sitting here reminiscing about that beautiful fall weather and the warm sunshine. Winter gets everything pretty cold and miserable here in Missouri.  So I needed a little inspiration.  One of my New Years goals was to start blogging my sessions more.  There’s something so neat about seeing how all of the photos coordinate so well in a collage.  And, to be honest, if I were a client, I would want to see a full session to know what to expect.

Each year I define my style a little more and I want my clients to pick me for that style.  I am not into the “posey” images. I want to show the emotion and natural interaction that my clients have.  That being said, I will still do some traditional “posed” shots during my session. But most of the images I fall in love with are those between moments.  The candid moments that show that natural smile or that sweet embrace.  Those are the moments I strive to capture <3 Here’s to a new year and fresh ideas!

Missouri Ice Storm

It has been a dreary, cold, and slick few days.  I have been going stir crazy and finally decided to venture outside.  Even though it is so cold, there is something so beautiful about all of the ice! And of course, cows will always have a special place in my heart 🙂

Change is good

How is it 2017 already? I feel like 2016 came and went so fast, I wasn’t able to soak in how my business was changing.  So, for 2017, I have made it my mission to embrace my work and take it to places I have always dreamed of.

To start out 2017, I challenged myself to a 365 day photo project. With this project, I will take a photo a day for 365 days.  The photo can be anything throughout my day.  With this project, I hope to spark my creative side and challenge myself to seeing the beauty in every day life.  Another thing I devoted myself to was blogging more.  I told myself I would do it last year, and it never happened. So this year, I am making it a commitment!

I got into a big creative slump last year. Working as a nurse and photographer, and being a mom to two busy toddlers, made me feel like I was just keeping my head above water.  So this year, I have decided to start out being more organized.  Hopefully that lasts a while 😉

I want my photography business to show my style. And my style seems to be every changing and developing, but I believe I have finally developed and fine-tuned it into what I want.  I am so excited to see what this year brings and where I end up! Check back to see all of the new things coming to my photography business.

Here are my first few days of the photo project.  Approximately 357 days to go 🙂
